PLATTEVILLE - The RedTail Men's and Women's Track & Field teams took to the oval inside Williams Fieldhouse on February 10th for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational.
Hawkeye Community College would make their presence felt early on in the meet in the 800 Meter run, as three of the top eight finishers would prove to be RedTails. David Thompson would win his heat with a time of 1:58.33 and finish 2nd in the event, punching his ticket for Nationals. Konner Roth and Ryan Millikin would finish 7th and 8th respectively as they both posted times just over 2 minutes.
Continuing with the long distance races, it was the RedTails' Peter Torkleson finishing 5th in the 1 Mile run as he crossed the line in a time of 4:41.56.
In the 60 Meter hurdles it was Wapsie Valley native Riley Little posting a time of 8.59 seconds in the finals to also finish 5th on the track for the RedTails.
The Beard Brothers would also continue to impress on the track. First up in the 200 Meter dash it was Kenny sprinting to the line in 23.15 seconds in his heat to finish 6th overall. Brandon took to the track next for the 400 Meter dash, finishing in a time of 49.67, Brandon would take home 2nd place in the event, finishing .25 seconds behind Colfay Pointer of Dubuque University for first place. The brothers would then team up in the 4x400 Meter relay. Along with Cole Willert and Jack Jensen, the RedTails would post a time of 3:25.32 and hold off the relay team from Loras for a runner-up finish in the relay.
The RedTails will next head to Storm Lake, Iowa on Friday, February 16th to take part in the NJCAA Regionals hosted by Buena Vista University.
