RedTails Storm Past Wartburg in a Total Team Effort

WATERLOO-- The Hawkeye Community College volleyball team defeated the Wartburg
College JV team 3-1 on Monday.


The RedTails won sets one and two 25-13 and 25-16 respectively, before dropping set
three 25-15. The team was able to recover and close out the Knights 25-18 in the fourth
set.


Paige Eiffler exploded for the RedTails offense, contributing 8 kills on 30 attempts. Leah
Carter also punished the Knights with 5 aces on the evening. Haylee Keune and Macy
Mommer were also instrumental in keeping the ball alive for Hawkeye, with 21 and 19
digs respectively.


All 18 active players on the RedTails roster saw playing time on Monday.


"The group had a decent match overall," said head coach Scott Weston after the game,
"everyone had the opportunity to get in on the action."


The win pushes the team to 9-10 on the season and 1-2 in ICCAC play. The RedTails
are home again on September 25 hosting Ellsworth Community College.
