WATERLOO–RedTail Volleyball claimed a 3-1 conference victory against visiting Ellsworth Community College on Wednesday night.
Though the Panthers won the first set 25-22, the RedTails seemed to fire on all cylinders for the remainder of the match, scoring three decisive wins (25-13, 25-16, 25-14). The offensive column was filled with contributions from all around the court. Middle hitter Alison Godwin racked up eight kills, with an additional seven kills each from outside hitters Paige Eiffler and Jessica Hopkins. Also making strong contributions were middle hitter Vanessa Kolb with six kills and defensive specialist Leah Carter, who recorded eight digs defensively and three aces from the RedTail baseline. The RedTails were led defensively by the strong play of libero Haylee Keune, recording 10 digs in the match.
"We're still not where we want to be," said head coach Scott Weston, "But this puts us back to .500 (10-10) on the season and a win is a win and we're not giving it back".
The RedTails hope to continue their three game winning streak as they travel to Quincy, Illinois, on Friday in a highly-anticipated rematch with the John Wood Community College Blazers.
