RedTails Break School Record at DMACC Invite
AMES–The RedTails competed in the DMACC Invite at Ames Golf & Country Club on Monday, April 11, 2022, and finished second out of four teams.
The RedTails shot 293 and then 288, for a total of 581, which broke a school record for 36 holes.
Tom Bell placed first, scoring a 70 and then a 71, for a total of 141.
Austin Reynolds placed third, scoring a 74 and then a 69, for a total of 143.
The tie for twelfth place was held by Luke Galeazzi, scoring a 73 and then a 75, for a total of 148.
Grant Dekruyf placed seventeenth, scoring a 77 and a 73, for a total of 150.
The tie for twenty-second place was held by Melker Andersson and Aden Zwanziger, both scoring a 155.
"Bell and Reynolds were outstanding again today and the entire team played great over a long day of 36 holes," said head coach Micah Destival. "Tom made a five foot putt on the last hole for par, to win the tournament by one and Reynolds' second round score of 69 was the low round of the tournament leading him to a third place finish is a very good field. We are proud of all the guys for staying in the game mentally as 36 holes can wear you out and make you make mistakes late in the day. We are very excited to get back at it this Friday and Saturday at our home tournament."
The RedTails are back in action April 15-16 hosting their home tournament, the Battle of Waterloo at Irv Warren and South Hills golf courses.
