RedTails Esports finds major success over weekend, notches 5 wins out of 7 games
The RedTail Esports teams competed in seven games over the last weekend. For the Varsity Overwatch team, they notched wins over Milwaukee School of Engineering, Northwood University, University of Massachusetts, and the University of Central Florida.
The match against the University of Central Florida was a rematch of the national semi-finals of the TESPA Varsity Invitational Qualifiers, which UCF took the first time by an extremely close decision of 2-1. However, the rematch was nowhere near the same result. The RedTails came out with an aggressive play style and ended with a victory, 2-0. Caleb "Simplistic" Heun and Matt "JollyEevee" Peiffer racked up a total of five play of the game awards, while Dylan "Briggzy" Swatek-Briggs added another to the total. Across eight maps, the RedTails went undefeated
The Junior Varsity Overwatch team had a split decision, dropping their first game against Elon University, 2-0 but secured a 2-0 victory over Western Carolina University.
The Varsity League of Legends team competed in the AVGL collegiate preseason tournament over the weekend, fresh off of a victory over the University of Iowa, but fell short in the first round to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 2-0.
