Male Athlete of the Week-Alex Sturbaum
RedTail bowler Alex Sturbaum has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the McKendree Tournament in Fairview Heights, Illinois on November 19 and 20.
Alex had a great showing at the McKendree Tournament. Taking 50th place, he rolled a 195.8 tournament average. His score was drastically boosted by his fourth game when he tossed a 290. He spared the 1-2-8-10 washout and threw 11 solid pocket strikes in a row to hit the mark against the best college bowlers in the nation. Sturbaum finished with a team-high 1171 pins with games of 212, 170, 184, 290, 163, and 156.
"Alex was showing his tremendous talent by picking up a tough spare in frame one and throwing 11 perfect strike shots to shoot the second-highest score in program history at 290," said head coach Roger Taylor.
Sturbaum is originally from Troy Mills, IA.
