RedTail Bowling has success at home
WATERLOO–Hawkeye Community College hosted a bowling tournament at the Cadillac XBC on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12.
The RedTails were among some fierce competition, including Mount Mercy University, Waldorf University, Iowa Western Community College, Upper Iowa University, Coe College, Clarke University, Morningside University, and Wartburg College.
Day one of the invitational brought impressive individual scores from the RedTails. Madison Shontz was the highest individual bowler for the women, averaging 195.8 pins per game and scoring 10th overall. For the men's team, Simon Larsen bowled well, with an average score of 223 pins.
Joe Squires, assistant coach for the RedTails commented "Simon was a rock for us all weekend. As a team, we hit some rough patches with issues of getting the pins to fall the right way but we battled strong and built upon Simon's strong score."
The second day of the invitational brought the baker games. The women's team scored 7th overall, and the men's scored 6th. The overall average scores of the baker games were 191.44 for the men's, and 166.75 for the women's.
Head coach Roger Taylor was excited about the women's results of the meet, stating, "All of the girls did very well and with team scores ranging from 817 to 907, I would say that shows great strides going into our last couple events."
The RedTails are back in action on Friday, February 17, in Quincy, Ill., for the Hawk Open. Good luck and go RedTails!
