Athlete of the Week: Reid McFarland

Hawkeye RedTail golf sophomore Reid McFarland was named athlete of the week for his performance at the Hawkeye Invitational and the DMACC Fall Invitational.

McFarland shot a personal best of 81 at the Hawkeye Invitational. In the same week McFarland was able to break his personal best again by shooting a 77 at the DMACC Fall Invitational. McFarland was able to perform on a very windy day to finish tied for 23rd out of 75 golfers.

"Reid has put in a lot of time this season to get better and is starting to see some of the improvements happen in his scoring," said head coach Micah Destival. "Shooting 77 at Ames in 30+ mph winds was a great score. Hopefully he take that confidence into the off-season and continues to work hard."

McFarland is a native of Cedar Falls, IA and is currently studying business while attending Hawkeye.
