RedTail Golf Perseveres Despite Tough Weather
WAVERLY–The RedTail Golf team battled through difficult windy conditions to ultimately put together a strong showing at the Wartburg Invite on April 2-3.
The wind intensity was high on Friday's round, which made things difficult for the RedTail golfers. The men battled through the wind, posting a 335 team score.
The RedTails went into Saturday with better weather conditions, and high hopes of lower scores. At the end of the second round, the RedTails had cut 35 strokes off of their score on Friday, recording a 300 team score.
Sophomores Austin Reynolds and Ethan Streicher led the team by both placing 18th overall, shooting a 154. Freshman Broc Shaw, who competed as an individual, posted a 158 total score and a personal best of a 73 in his second round.
"I was very pleased with the bounce back 2nd round after the brutal conditions for the first day in Waverly," said coach Micah Destival. "We are very excited to see the progress made over the winter and had some good rounds, including a personal best 73 from newcomer Broc Shaw playing as an individual."
The RedTail golf team will look to build on the momentum they carried through the second round when they head to Ankenny, Iowa on April 5 to compete in the DMACC 36 Holes competition.
