Athlete of the Week: Ethan Streicher

WATERLOO-RedTail Men's Golf sophomore Ethan Streicher has been named the RedTail Athlete of the Week for his victorious performance at the Hawkeye Invitational on Friday, April 16.

Streicher shot a 69 on Friday's tournament, tying the RedTail school record and setting a new personal best by four strokes. Streicher's effort made him the first individual to win a golf tournament in the program's three-year history. In addition to his individual first place finish, Streicher led the team to their first team title in program history.

"Ethan played great in our home tournament and [as well as] the day before at Mason City. [The] biggest difference was he was able to finish the round at Irv Warren and tied the school record," said head coach Micah Destival. "He is able to get out of his own way mentally which is tough to do."

Streicher is originally from Edgewood, Iowa, and is currently studying Liberal Arts while attending Hawkeye.
