Athlete of the Week: Austin Reynolds

WATERLOO–RedTail men's golfer Austin Reynolds has been named this week's RedTail Athlete of the Week for his record-setting performance at the NJCAA Region XI Meet on May 1-2.

Despite a difficult start to the weekend and windy weather conditions, Reynolds rallied late in the weekend to complete a great performance. Reynolds shot a 241 over the course of the three rounds of golf, and became the first golfer in RedTail Golf history to qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament.

"We are very proud of Austin to be the first RedTail golfer to make the national tournament," said head coach Micah Destival. "Even though the conditions where very tough Austin shrugged off a tough start to play the last 12 holes one over par to qualify."

Reynolds is originally from Newton, Iowa, and is currently studying Landscape and Turf Management at Hawkeye.
