Male Athlete of the Week-Melker Andersson

RedTail golfer Melker Andersson has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performances over the past week at the Clarke Invite in Galena, Illinois, and the Hawkeye Fall Classic at Irv Warren Golf Course.

Melker had a great week shooting rounds of 73-80 on tough courses in Galena, Illinois over the weekend placing him fourth overall. On Monday, Melker tied our school record with a 5 under par 67, lowering his Redtail personal best by six shots and winning the Hawkeye Fall Classic.

"Melker had a great summer back in Sweden and we've been anticipating this type of week from him since he got back this fall," said head coach Micah Destival. "Melker has been working hard and it is nice to see that pay off for him with a couple of top finishes and beating his best score here by six shots is amazing."

"It felt great to get my first collegiate win and it was even more fun to tie Tom Bell's school record," said Melker. "I am very excited for the rest of the season and to see what the team and I can accomplish!"

Andersson is originally from Landskrona, Sweden.
