RedTails Men Golf Wins at Clarke Fall Classic
GALENA, ILL.- The RedTails Men's Golf team competed in the Clarke Fall Classic September 16 &17, and were able to take home first place as a team and have Luke Galeazzi take home first place individually.
The RedTails shot a solid 622 to top the 10-team leaderboard, with Galeazzi securing his win with 147 (72, 75). Sacha Brown who tied for sixth place shot a 156 with two sub 80 rounds. Right behind him was Grant Dekruyf with a 157 which was good enough for an eighth place finish. Austin Reynolds also had a solid performance with an 162 which got him a tie for fourteen place. Rounding out the team was Max Naumann shooting a 167 which tied him for ninth place.
The RedTails B team also played very well, taking home second place as a squad only to lose to the RedTails A team shooting a 639. Melker Andersson led the team shooting a 153 over two days which gave him a fourth place finish. Ethan Walker shot 158 which was good enough to put him in a tie for ninth place. Behind him was Ethan Farrell shooting a 163 tying him for seventeenth place. Carson Slezak shot a 165 which put him in a tie for twenty fourth place. Broc Shaw rounded out the team with a 178 which put him in a tie for 15th place.
Head coach Micah Destival had some praising words after the RedTails were able to get the win in Galena.
"We had a great couple days in Galena coming away with both the team and individual title at the Clarke invite," he said. "Luke continues to lead the way for this team and played a good two rounds to earn the win. Up and down the lineup everyone did some great things the past two days and we are really looking forward to this coming week playing a couple scorable courses."
The RedTails next matchup will come Monday, September 19, at Irv Warren Golf Course as they compete in the Hawkeye Fall Classic tournament teeing off at 10:00am.
