RedTails Mens Golf Team Wins Waldorf Fall Invite
ALBERT LEA, MN.- The RedTails Men's and Women's teams competed in the Waldorf Fall Invite and were able to take home first place as a team and have Melker Andersson take home first place individually on September 25.
The orange team took home first place as a team shooting 315 as a team and were led by Melker Andersson shooting a 75 which gave him the first place finish overall. Austin Reynolds shot 77 which gave him a fourth place finish. Following him was Grant Dekruyf who shot 80 and tied for 11th place. Luke Galeazzi shot 83 and tied for 25th. Rounding out the team was Sacha Brown who tied for 47th shooting an 87.
The blue team also played well and shot a 328 and placed fourth overall and were led by Max Naumann who shot a 77 and tied for fourth place individually. Carson Slezak shot an 80 and tied for 11th. Emil Christensen shot an 83 and tied for 25th. Broc Shaw tied for 37th and shot an 86. Rounding out the team was Kody Hoeger shooting a 93 which tied him for 60th overall.
The women's team also competed and played very well. Chase Doland shot an 88 which gave her a fifth place individually. Olivia Hammell also competed shooting a 103.
Head coach Micah Destival had some positive words after the RedTails were able to get the win.
"Great way to start the week off with a solid round of golf in extreme weather," he said. "I thought throughout the day we were doing some good things considering it was gusting over 30mph and at the end of the day we were able to get our 3rd win of the fall. Mlker Andersson has really come on the past couple weeks and got his 2nd win of the year as well. Max Naumann and Austion Reynolds also played impressive rounds of golf and ended up in a tie for 4th place. Chase Doland continued her good play this weekend as well by finishing 5th and getting on the all-tournament team."
The RedTails next matchup will come Friday September 30, at Fox Ridge Golf Course as they compete in Hawkeye Fall Shootout tournament teeing off at 9:00am.
