RedTail Athletics Finishes 6th at Mustang Fall Classic
RedTail Athletics wrapped up a strong showing at the Mustang Fall Classic, earning a 6th place team finish against a competitive field. The two-day event showcased moments of great play from the RedTails, who continue to build momentum early in the fall season.
Leading the charge was Mitchell Randall, who posted rounds of 77-79 to finish at +12, notching a top-25 individual finish. Randall remained steady throughout, highlighted by a back-nine 38 on day two.
Preston Martens bounced back from a tough opening round with a composed 78 in round two, finishing at +14 overall. Martens showed improvement across the board and contributed valuable consistency in the final round.
Kaden Kopsa made a solid leap from round one to round two, improving from an 82 to a 79, finishing at +17 for the tournament. His late-round composure helped secure important team points.
Aidan Zirtzman contributed rounds of 83-83 (+22), showing persistence over both days, while Oliver Thompson started strong with a 76, but slipped in round two with an 87, ending at +19.
The RedTails posted team totals of 3502 (Round 1) and 3505 (Round 2), combining for a two-day score of 7007, which placed them 6th overall.
Head Coach Micah Destival reflected on the team's performance:
"Similar to the first tournament, we are making way too many big numbers which we can't make up for. The guys had really nice stretches of golf, but hopefully we can clean up some of the mistakes next week at our home tournament."
The RedTails return to action next week as they host their home tournament, aiming to tighten up execution and capitalize on home-course familiarity.
