RedTails Battle at Hawkeye Fall Shootout
The Hawkeye Community College Men's Golf team competed on their home course Wednesday, September 4, at the Hawkeye Fall Shootout hosted at Irv Warren Golf Course. The RedTails turned in several strong individual rounds on the par-72 layout.
Mitchell Randall led Hawkeye with a steady round of 73 (+1), carding consistent scores on both nines. Aidan Zirtzman followed closely with a 74 (+2), and Preston Martens added a 75 (+3).
Also scoring well for the RedTails were Graham Bremner and Ty Faltys, who each posted 75 (+3), while Kaden Kopsa and Oliver Thompson finished at 76 (+4).
Additional RedTail scores included Daniel Wiese with an 80 (+8), Matty Bain at 81 (+9), Carson Nash with an 82 (+10), Jaden Hawbaker at 86 (+14), and Connor Deppe with a 92 (+20).
Head coach Micah Destival noted both progress and areas for improvement.
"The guys did nice things again, but as has been our fall we can't make big numbers and expect to win tournaments at this level," Destival said. "While it has improved, it's something that is currently holding us back from where we'd like to be."
The RedTails will continue their fall slate next week as they look to build on the positives and tighten up their scoring.
