RedTails Show Improvement but Fall Short at NIACC Fall Invitational
The Hawkeye Community College RedTails Men's Golf Team took to the course at Highland Park Golf Course on Tuesday for the NIACC Fall Invitational, hosted by North Iowa Area Community College. Despite showing signs of improvement, the RedTails were unable to overcome critical mistakes and finished the tournament with a team score of 636.
Sophomore Ty Faltys led the RedTails with a team-best round of 76 (+4), showing steady play throughout the day. Carson Nash followed with a 78 (+6), while Daniel Wiese and Kaden Kopsa both posted rounds of 79 (+7). Rounding out the lineup was Matty Bain with an 81 (+9).
Head Coach Micah Destival acknowledged the progress but emphasized that there is still work to be done.
"We played a little bit better today, but are still making too many mistakes on the golf course for us to be competitive," Destival said. "We have a couple weeks off to address this and are looking forward to seeing us progress in the right direction the rest of the fall season."
The RedTails now turn their focus to the next stretch of the fall schedule, aiming to refine their approach and compete at a higher level in upcoming tournaments.
