The RedTails golf team traveled to Hannibal, Missouri, for the Hannibal‑LaGrange Spring Invite on March 23-24.

Men's Team Highlights

Top Performances

  • Preston Martens was the anchor across both rounds, placing fourth overall, firing a 76 in Round 1 and following it with a smooth, even‑par 72 in Round 2. His second round featured matching 36s on both sides, showcasing consistency and control.

  • Matty Bain delivered a solid 78 in Round 1 and backed it up with a 77 in Round 2, highlighted by a composed back‑nine 38 on Day 2.

  • Mitchell Randall posted one of the stronger Round 1 scores for the A squad with an 80, then followed with an 82 in Round 2, helping stabilize the team total.

Notable Moments

  • Multiple RedTails strung together clean stretches of pars, especially on the back nine of Round 2, where the team collectively tightened scoring.

  • Across both squads, several players navigated the long par‑5s effectively, limiting big numbers and keeping rounds intact.

Women's Team Highlights

Top Performances

  • Makenna Brissey led the way in Round 2 with a 93, improving significantly from her opening‑round 101. Her front‑nine 45 in Round 2 was one of the team's best stretches of the tournament.

  • Delaney Legg delivered two steady rounds, highlighted by a 48 on the front nine in Round 1 and a 100 in Round 2, keeping the RedTails competitive.

  • Eve Brumbaugh posted a 96 in Round 1 and followed with a 109 in Round 2, with her Round 1 showing anchored by matching 48s on both sides.

Notable Moments

  • Several athletes posted improved scoring on the par‑3s in Round 2, showing better distance control and course management.

  • The team demonstrated strong resilience, especially on the closing stretch of holes, where they minimized large numbers compared to Round 1.

Coach Micah Destival commented first on the men's performance, saying, "It was nice to get out of the indoor golf room finally and get outside and compete.  Most of the guys improved from day one to day two, which is what we were looking for.  Great rounds for Preston, who finished fourth overall, Matty, and Mitchell, who fired a low second round.  Looking forward to nice weather at our home tournament on Monday."

Coach Destival finished off by commenting on the women's performance, saying, "It was nice to get back outdoors after a cold winter and compete again.  Was impressed with how we played with our weather not cooperating lately to get any outdoor time in.  Looking forward to our home tournament on Monday and some nice weather."
