Men’s Track and Field Exceed Expectations at UNI Meet
CEDAR FALLS-The Men's Track and Field team had a fantastic meet at UNI on January 21.
The RedTails had several personal best times and national-qualifying marks. Blake Veenstra is sitting really well at one of the nation's top throwers. Freshman Stephen Thomas won the meet in the 800m as well as setting a personal best time and qualifying for nationals.
Most of the spritners were held back in preparation to explode at the ISU meet on January 22.
The distance runners also kept things shorter as they will look to hit fast times to punch their tickets to nationals in the upcoming weeks.
Head Coach Tyler Mulder commented, "The men's team is ranked very strong across the board and some of our better events haven't made their season debut yet! Very excited for where everyone is at coming off of Christmas break and it shows they put in the work over the holidays! We look to keep them healthy and keep them rolling to fast time up to nationals!"
Ending the meet, the RedTails walked away with four National Qualifiers:
-
Ray Talbert -60m
-
Blake Veenstra - Weight throw & Shot Put
-
Koby Brackemeyer- 600m
-
Stephen Thomas- 800m
The RedTails are back in action on Saturday, January 22, at the ISU meet.
