Blake Veenstra Wins Shot Put and Discus at Wartburg

WAVERLY–The RedTail Track and Field throwers competed at Wartburg College on Friday, April 1 at Walston-Hoover Stadium and Blake Veenstra won two events.

Blake Veenstra won the men's shot put finals with a 16.45m mark, which was an outdoor personal record for Veenstra. In addition, Veenstra won the discus finals with a 48.21m mark. Veenstra also placed fifth in the hammer finals with a mark of 46.99m.

Miguel Rubio threw a personal record in the discus finals with a mark of 23.93m. Rubio also threw well in the shot put and javelin finals.

The RedTails are back in action on Saturday, April 9, at the Mustang Open at Mt. Mercy College.
