Redtail Student-Athlete Matthew Benedict with a season-best high jump
MANKATO, MINN.–The RedTail Men's Track and Field kicked off their February competition this Saturday, February 4, at the Ted Nelson Classic for Minnesota State University in Mankato.
Achievements from the meet include a PR from Matthew Benedict in the high jump. The freshman jumped six feet, 4 inches, placing seventh overall in the meet. Freshman Gannon O'Hara also had an impressive day, long jumping 20–7, as well as placing 19th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.79 seconds. The RedTails had success in the 800 meter run as well, with Brock Myer placing eighth overall with a time of 2:03.77.
Freshman Carter Even ran for the first time this year, placing the highest of all the RedTails in the 60 meter dash. He placed 12th and ran a 7.31.
"I thought we were a bit flat as a team this week," head coach Scott Roberts commented. "But we are looking to bounce back, with the entire team back together, this Friday at St. Ambrose."
