Bio
Tyler Mulder is entering his fifth season coaching the Cross Country and Track and Field teams for the RedTails. After an impressive third season for both programs, Mulder has coached five women’s cross country All-Americans and two men’s cross country All-Americans, 27 All-Americans in men’s track and field, and 32 All-Americans in women’s track and field. In addition to all of his All-Americans, Coach Mulder also got his first indoor national championship in the men’s 4x800m.
The Women’s Cross Country program has garnered a total of twelve Scholar All Americans. The Men’s Cross Country was recently named the 2019-20 NJCAA Academic Team of the year boasting a 3.85 GPA,totaling eight Scholar All Americans. Overall Mulder has sent ten athletes to NCAA Division I programs, six to NCAA Division II programs, three to NAIA programs.
Mulder is from Orange City, IA, and graduated from Unity Christian High School. He took his talents to UNI and had a remarkable career (2005-2009), earning All-American status eight times. He holds the UNI school records in the 800M,1000M, 4x400, sprint medley, and distance medley relay. Along with his All-American achievements, he was an 11-time Missouri Valley Conference champion and the 2008 NCAA indoor champion.
After Mulder’s stellar collegiate career, he ran Nike Oregon Track Club in Eugene, Oregon. In 2008 and 2012, Mulder placed fourth at the Olympic trials qualifier. In 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013, he was a USA Champs finalist, in addition to placing fourth in the 2011 Pan Am games. His personal bests are 1:44.34 in the 800M, 2:17.91 in the 1000m, 3:42.53 in the 1,500M, and 3:57.37 in the mile, currently boasts the fastest times by any Iowan in the 800m, 1000m and mile.
