Mickelson Leads the Pack in Grandview University Open
The men's cross country team returned to competition on Saturday at the Grandview University Open. The men's team took third overall behind fellow conference members Iowa Central and NIACC.
The RedTails had three men place in the top 15. Sam Mickelson was able to finish fourth overall with a time of 16:08. This allowed Mickelson to lower his school record from last season. Crossing the line behind Mickelson was Harrison Vanderlinden, finishing 10th with a time of 16:40. Kolby Winter crossed the line next, finishing 15th with a time of 16:51. The next two finishers were, Brandon Conrad finishing 20th with a time of 17:20, and Dodson Melchiori with a time of 17:32 to finish 26th.
Head coach, Tyler Mulder said: "Our men's team has some serious potential, I'm happy with where the guys are but see the potential to be a really good team here, just need to see how the training progresses and see more consistency there."
The RedTails will be in action September 12, at the Fighting Bee Invite in Davenport, IA. The time is still to be determined.
