RedTail Men’s Cross Country opens season at Bob Schultz Invite
The Hawkeye RedTail Men's Cross Country team officially opened the 2025 season Friday evening at the Bob Schultz Invitational in Dubuque, competing in a 5K against a talented field.
Freshman Greyson Veiseth made a strong debut in his first collegiate race, leading a young RedTail squad that showed determination from start to finish.
Head coach Dae'trell Gordon was encouraged by the team's performance and growth potential moving forward:
"Coach Holesinger and I are pleased with the effort the young men put into their training and in finishing the race yesterday," Gordon said. "Freshman Greyson Veiseth had a great debut in his first competition wearing the Hawkeye RedTail uniform, and he along with the rest of the squad fought hard against some of the best competition in the country. We know there are still many miles ahead as we continue rebuilding the cross country and track and field program, but the sky is the limit with this young group."
The RedTails will return to action on Saturday, September 13, at the All American Invite in Decorah, Iowa.
