Hawkeye Takes Third in NICC Invitational
PEOSTA- This past Saturday, 9/24/2016, seven sports shooting teams competed in the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Cougar Invitational. This conference meet was held at Izaak Walton Club range in Peosta, Iowa. Hawkeye Community College brought two squads with them, Hawkeye Red scored 426 while Hawkeye Blue scored 461. The RedTails were able to utilize a wildcard move by substituting Emily Klein's score of 93 in for the blue squad and dropped their lowest score. This resulted in a final score of 466 and a third place finish for Hawkeye.
Marcus Draves lead the team with a strong score of 96, which was T-13th in the men's division. Iowa Central's Lane Dundee was the meet's top individual shooter. He beat out three of his teammates in a tiebreaking shoot-off after posting a score of 99 in regulation. Trittany Miller from Iowa Central was the top shooter in the ladies division shooting a 98, as Emily Klein finished 5th. Iowa Central won the meet with a team score of 494.
The RedTails travel to Cedar Rapids on October 22nd for their 3rd conference meet of the year.
