Hawkeye RedTails Sports Shooting Competes at ACUI Collegiate Championships
SAN ANTONIO, Texas–The Hawkeye RedTails Sports Shooting team placed fifth in Division 4 American Trap and American Skeet at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships in San Antonio, Texas, March 28-April 2, 2017.
Hawkeye RedTails Marcus Draves of Muscatine, Jordan Lentz of Aurora, Austin Boldt of Gilbertville, Emily Klein of Tiffin, and Amber Barloon of Waucoma were among 800 college athletes competing at the National Shooting Complex.
In American Trap, the team earned a combined 476 points to secure a fifth place finish. Klein's 99/100 shooting put her in an elite group as one of five women across all divisions with that high score. Draves and Boldt had personal best performances, each shooting 98. Rounding out the individual scores were Lentz with 93 and Barloon with 88.
In the American Skeet contest, the team again placed fifth, this time with a combined 414 score. Boldt led the squad with 96, a personal best and tie high score in Division 4. Draves (91), Klein (88), Lentz (73), and Barloon (66) all contributed solid scores to add to the team total.
