RedTails Have a Record Breaking Meet
ACKLEY–RedTail Sports Shooting won their meet against Iowa Lakes Community College, Kirkwood Community College and Northwest Iowa Community Collegeon October 2 shooting 492 birds and breaking the old school record.
The RedTails claimed the top three spots in both the men's and women's competition. Jake Maakestad led the RedTails, becoming the third RedTail to shoot a perfect 100 bird game, with this score he was able to place first overall in the men's competition. Devan Myers placed second in the men's competition shooting 98. Coming in third overall for the men was Brandon Beaty shooting 98 birds.
Britlynn Klaas placed first overall for the women's shooting 98 birds. Coming in second overall for the women was Alexis Teribury with a score of 95 birds. Grace Eisenbarth came in third overall for the women shooting 94 birds.
"We made history today" says coach Troy Emley. "There was a fog over the field of play today, but the mental focus of the RedTails was clear as a bell. This is the best performance Hawkeye RedTails Sports Shooting has ever put forth Jake Maakestad becomes the third RedTail (joining Braxton Childers & Carter Farley) to be perfect in competition, shooting a 100 straight. These RedTails have the potential to be the best team we have ever had at Hawkeye Community College. We look forward to our next opportunity to compete at SCTP Collegiate National Championships."
Next up for the RedTails is the SCTP Collegiate National Championship October 6-10 in Marengo, Ohio.
