RedTails Sports Shooting opens season strong with standout performances
The Hawkeye RedTail Sports Shooting team started their season on a high note, earning multiple top finishes in trap competition this Saturday, September 6th.
In Trap – Singles, sophomores Elliott Brincks and Ethan Tlusty both tied for third place in the men's division and will compete in a shoot-off to determine final placement. Freshman Cole Slabaugh highlighted the event with a first-place finish, clinching the top spot in a dramatic shoot-off.
On the women's side, Abbie Hill shined in Trap – Doubles, capturing first place in a shoot-off to secure the victory.
Head coach Troy Emley praised the team's effort and ability to adjust to new surroundings:
"We shot really well," Emley said. "Our experienced team went to a gun club where none of them had competed before, and came away with the win."
The RedTails return to action on September 20 when they travel to face the Indian Hills Warriors and Southeastern Blackhawks.
