RedTail Softball Adds Crystal Flores to Recruiting Class
RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Crystal Flores to the 2026 recruiting class. Flores is the daughter of Mariela Baez and Daniel Flores and attends Eagle Grove High School. Flores plans on pursuing Dental Hygiene during her time at Hawkeye.
During her junior campaign, Flores posted an impressive .403 batting average with a .426 on base percentage. She collected 64 hits, including 11 doubles, one triple, and one homerun. She also had 30 runs batted in and scored 40 times herself. She also maintained a .948 fielding percentage.
Outside of softball, Flores spends her time on the dance team, soccer team, and running track. She has been on the A and B honor rolls during her time in high school, and she has lettered in all four sports. She has also been involved in Spanish Club, helped coach little kid soccer teams, blood drives, and FBLA.
Crystal had this to say about choosing Hawkeye: “I chose Hawkeye because the campus and the whole area seemed like home to me. I’m most excited to meet new friends, not only from campus, but also while I play softball.”
“I am very excited that Crystal chose to be a RedTail next year!” commented coach Courtney Calkins. “She is a dynamic player that will add a solid glove in the field and a consistent bat in the lineup. She has the ability to make the great plays in the field, and she will be a tough out in the box. She loves the game of softball and will represent our program well.”
