Emilee Bergmann Signs to Continue Softball Career at MNU
RedTail Softball player Emilee Bergmann has recently signed to continue her athletic and academic career at MidAmerica Nazarene University located in Olathe, Kansas. She will be studying elementary education. Bergmann is the daughter of Crystal and Joel Bergmann and graduated from Spring Hill High School.
“I chose MNU because of how inviting the campus felt and how welcoming Coach Jen is!” Bergmann commented. “I am excited to meet my new teammates and to compete in a highly competitive Heartland Conference.”
During her time at Hawkeye, Bergmann was a consistent presence in the outfield for the RedTails, maintaining a .938 fielding percentage. At the plate, she collected 47 hits and 10 doubles in her career. She had a personal best sophomore season, maintaining a .275 batting average and a .436 on base percentage, which is third highest in program history. She has the second highest number of walks in a single season (23), she is third in program history for most runs scored in a single season (31) and is tied for most career runs scored (49). She also swiped 17 bases.
Outside of softball, Emilee was a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She also was great academically, being named to Academic All-Region First Team all four semesters.
“MNU is getting a great person and a great athlete,” commented Head Coach Courtney Calkins. “Emilee is exactly the type of person you want on your team. She is a hard-worker, loves the game, and makes everyone around her better. She has been an important part of our team the last two years and has really helped us become better in every aspect. Her presence will be missed in the outfield, but I know she will do great things at MNU and am very excited to watch her continue to grow on and off the field.”
“I am so thankful for the opportunities Hawkeye gave me. I have grown so much as a player and a person through Hawkeye, and I am grateful that I was able to spend my first two years of college softball there!” said Bergmann.
