Women’s Bowling Takes First Place on Day Two of Cedar Valley Invite
The RedTail Women's Bowling team returned to Cadillac XBC for day two of the Cedar Valley Invite on Sunday, February 14. The women were riding high on a third place finish after day one of the invite, and continued their impressive performances to finish first place overall.
"The women had a great energy about them all day," said assistant coach Roger Taylor. "That energy was spearheaded by captain Hannah Axline. Hannah really led the team for this day, doing what she could to keep everyone into it mentally and uplifting everyone's spirits."
Kassidy Gerken led the RedTails for the day, making an All-Tournament Team appearance with fifth place and a three-game score of 509.
The RedTails took the top spot from Iowa Western Community College going into bakers, ultimately leading them to compete against a dominating Mount Mercy University team in the finals. In a 740-pin deficit to the Mount Mercy Mustangs, the blue and orange knew they needed to bring their best, and they did just that. Making every strike and spare possible, the RedTails put up their highest baker game of the day with a 218, defeating top ranked Mount Mercy.
"The girls really stepped up on bringing that energy they had the entire day and focused on making great shots," said coach Taylor.
Next up, the RedTails travel to Cedar Rapids for the Coe College Invite on Saturday, February 27.
