RedTails Close Regular Season With A Fifth-Place Finish At Mount Mercy Invite
The RedTail Women's Bowling team wrapped up their regular season on Saturday, March 29, at the Mount Mercy Invite. The team finished in dominant fashion coming in fifth out of 13 teams total. This puts the RedTails in a good standing as they lead into nationals.
To start the event the team was ranked 65th in the USBC college bowling, and with sectionals taking the top 64 women's team they were on the outside looking in. They needed to come out with their best performance.
Coach Heath Kohl stated, "The team's chemistry was the best I have ever seen this weekend and our place showed it through their hard work and dedication."
The RedTails remained constant throughout the weekend staying in fifth place both Saturday and Sunday. With the points that the team received from placing fifth, it took the RedTails to 61st giving them a spot to sectionals.
Freshman and team captain Hannah Axline came out in game one with 256 and followed in game two with 200. Axline finished 6th just missing the All American Team (ATT) by only five pins. Freshman Whittney Morse followed by about 100 pins behind Axline.
This was the last regular season meet for three sophomores, Ashlee Snapp, Kassidy Gerken, and Natalie Leach.
Overall this is what Coach Kohl had to say about the women's regular season. "This season was a tough one with COVID. We had our ups and downs for sure and battled to find the secret to make everyone click, but we eventually found it.This season defineitley showed that if you put your heart, mind, and soul into hard work and dedication in one way shape or form you will succeed."
The RedTails will be continuing their hot streak as they head to NJCAA Nationals in Lansing, Michigan next week.
