RedTails Sixth, Morse Wins Individual Title at Clarke Invite
DUBUQUE- Whitney Morse, a second-year player, successfully defended her individual title from last year's Clarke Invite, winning with a 218 average in five games.
The women were in fourth place going into day two, with some fluctuation in the standings as the day went, with the ladies bouncing back and forth between third and fourth place. However, as the game progressed, the RedTails, Wartburg, Clarke, and in-state NJCAA rivals, Iowa Central, got increasingly close in the standings.
The RedTails placed sixth, with only six pins separating them from Clarke University in fifth, 35 pins separating them from Iowa Central College in fourth, and 36 pins separating them from Wartburg College in third.
"Overall, the ladies performed well together and were pretty consistent with their scores up until the last game of bakers. We had better execution and more spares for most of the weekend, and with a little practice this week to build off of that, we will be prepared for the Kohawk Invite next weekend in Cedar Rapids," said assistant coach Roger Taylor.
The next stop for the RedTails is the Kohawk Invitational on February 5-6.
