Women’s Bowling Competes at National Collegiate Team Match Games
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, ILL.–The RedTail Women's Bowling team faced tough competition in the National Collegiate Team Match Games, with Madison Shontz earning RedTails' highest placement in the two-day tournament hosted by McKendree University.
Schontz placed 67th, with a total of 853 pins across five games. She averaged 170.6 pins per game, with 206 being her high score. Lauren Funk was right behind Shontz, finishing in 68th place. Funk finished with a total pinfall of 844, averaging 168.8 pins.
The team recorded a total pinfall of 8,045 over the weekend. The RedTails went up against a field of dominant teams such as McKendree, Mount Mercy, and Wichita State. Head coach Roger Taylor reflected on the tournament saying, "Even though the women finished in 16th out of 17 teams, there was still a great deal of improvement to take away from everyone's performance. Individually, each person shined in their own way at different points of the weekend and it definitely showed when they shot a big 241 game during their baker sets. I believe we are heading in the right direction with the developments that we have made and it's only a matter of time when everything clicks and both our teams match up and bowl lights out to steamroll the competition.
The RedTails next competition will be in Sioux City on December 2-3, 2022 to compete at the Morningside Mustang Open.
