Women’s Bowling Has Success at National Tournament
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y.–The RedTails competed in the NJCAA National Tournament for bowling from March 2-4. During these three days, the RedTail women knew they would need to bring their A game.
Of the 19 schools there, the Women's RedTail Bowling Team scored the third highest for singles and doubles scores, with 5,422 points, as well as seventh in 5-man scores, with a 5,161. This, combined with their three baker block scores, some of the highest of the season (551, 521, 476), earned them 6th overall from the weekend, with 12,131 total points.
"After a rough start, we learned how to play the lanes and let our scores do the talking." said assistant coach Joe Squires.
We are extremely proud of our own Lauren Funk, who took home second place overall in individual scores. In her twelve games, she scored 2,435 points overall and averaged 202.9 per game. Funk was just 11 pins short of All-American honors.
Roger Taylor, head coach for the RedTails, said, "Lauren really brought her best for such a big event."
We are so proud of the RedTail efforts this season. Congratulations to a successful season, and we are excited to see what you do next year. Go RedTails!
