Coach Taylor had a lot to say recapping the weekend, starting with Saturday:"On January 24-25th, the RedTails persevered through the harsh cold weather and traveled down to Cedar Rapids to compete in our third Mid Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament and Championship. Saturday was its own event and was used to help set up bracket play for Sunday's championship bracket play. It was steady going but both teams did a really good job and put on a strong performance. Perhaps their best team performance of the season. The women finished in 6th out of the eight women's teams in the conference but they still were focused and put up better scores as a team then they have all year. The men surged into a fifth place finish, surpassing inner state rivals, Iowa Central and Iowa Western in the standings. Top bowlers from Saturday were Kiyrah Karstens, who was on point all weekend long and found herself making her first All Tournament Team appearance, finishing in fourth. On the men's side, it was so close, we had Kody Kleen coming in 16th place, just one pin ahead of Isaiah Sample, who was in 17th. Both averaging 203."
Following up with some thoughts on Sunday's performance Coach Taylor commented: "Sunday came the bracket play portion to determine our conference champions. It started off with All Conference recognition, where Isaiah Sample finished in second and made the All Conference Team with a 208 season average. Once in the match play bracket, we would bowl in a best of 5 baker matches, or in other words, a race to three wins out of the five games. The women first faced off against College of St Mary out of Nebraska and they beat them in four games, whereas the men bowled against Iowa Western, a fellow JuCo school. The men took care of the Reivers in 3 straight games. The next matches were the most exciting ones. The men finished first in their match against Iowa Central and after losing the first game, they put the pedal to the metal and took the Tritons down the next three games to continue on into the bracket. Then came the girls, who outlasted and took a tough Wartburg team all the way to five games for the win. Everyone was hyped and moving onto bowl for third and fourth place against Waldorf. Both teams then ran out of gas and fell to the Waldorf teams, ending the season in the conference with a fourth place finish. Overall, an outstanding performance all around by the RedTails."
