RedTail Men’s Wrestling Competes at Yellow Jacket Open
The Hawkeye Community College Men's Wrestling team traveled to Rochester, Minnesota, on Saturday, November 1, to compete in the Yellow Jacket Open, an early-season test against some of the strongest programs in the region.
The event featured top competition from NCAA Division II, Division III, and NJCAA programs, giving the RedTails a valuable chance to measure themselves against elite opponents.
"This being the second year, we are still testing the waters," said Coach Lovell. "This was a tough tournament, there were top teams from NCAA Division II and III and NJCAA. We have a lot to work on, but now we have a blueprint of what needs tweaking."
Despite facing experienced and established rosters, the RedTails showed grit and determination on the mats, gaining key experience that will help shape their development throughout the season.
With a clearer sense of where adjustments need to be made, the team now turns its focus toward continued growth and preparation for upcoming competitions. The Yellow Jacket Open served as a valuable learning opportunity as the RedTails look to build on their foundation in year two of the program.
