RedTail Women’s Soccer Game Results in Tie Against Mount Mercy University
On Sunday, April 13, the women's soccer team traveled to Cedar Rapids to take on the Mustangs of Mount Mercy University in a scrimmage.
The final score of the game resulted in a tie of 1-1. Scoring the goal for the RedTails was Jordyn Van Rensburg.
"Coming to our second four-year school in the space of the week and getting another positive result is of course pleasing," said head coach Christopher Rennie. "This spring, we are looking at areas of growth from the team we were in the Fall, with a big emphasis on our moments in possession. In the first half, I felt that we competed well but never really got a foothold in the game. The systems that both teams were playing made the game very narrow and created a scrappy game. We found ourselves one goal down at the break, so we made some changes in our shape at halftime along with some challenges that we wanted to see from the team in the second half."
"The second looked a lot better and we saw a lot more pictures of situations that we have created in practice. We created three or four really good chances in the second half that we unfortunately didn't take but we eventually found our equalizing goal late on in the second half. It was great to see the fighting spirit to come from behind and for the team to have that self belief."
