RedTails Women’s Soccer Sweeps St. Louis Weekend
This past weekend, the RedTails women's soccer team hit the road to St. Louis for their next slate of in-season matchups. The team departed Thursday evening, settling in for the night to prepare for Friday's game. The action began at 11:00 a.m. on Jefferson's home turf. The first half remained scoreless, but the RedTails held strong. Eventually, Miranda Tyler broke the deadlock with a composed penalty kick, securing the team's first win of the season.
After the match, the players regrouped and took time to enjoy a visit to the iconic St. Louis Arch, balancing some sightseeing with well-earned rest—knowing full well they'd be back on the pitch the next morning.
On Saturday, the RedTails headed to East Central College, carrying the same intensity into their second game. Several players found the back of the net, and the team's dominant performance triggered the mercy rule, earning them back-to-back victories.
Reflecting on the weekend, head coach Chris Rennie shared:
"This weekend was a great opportunity to bring the team down to the St. Louis area, not only for good competition but also another chance for this new team to get to know one another a little more away from the soccer field. We knew the weekend logistically would be hard, with a lot of travel and 2 games in 24 hours, but I couldn't be more proud of the team. Both on and off the field, they represented themselves and the program fantastically and to pick up 2 wins really topped off a great weekend."
The RedTails returned home Saturday evening, and spent the holiday weekend recovering in order to get back to work in preparation for their next game, where they will host Dakota County Technical College on Saturday, September 6th.
