Athlete of the Week: Mari Shavers

WATERLOO-Track and field sophomore Mari Shavers has been named the RedTail Athlete of the Week for her amazing performance at the Cornell College Invite on April 3.

Shavers won all three throwing events at the Cornell Invite, breaking the school record in each one. Additionally, Shavers qualified for the national meet in each of the events as well. The dominant performance showcased the hard work that Shavers has put in to get to the point she is at.

"Mari and the entire throwing crew have been working very hard in the weight room and practice and it's exciting for her to hit big marks and be ranked so highly in the NJCAA," said head coach Tyler Mulder. "We are very thankful for Coach Williams and what he's able to do with the athletes."

Shavers is originally from Waterloo, Iowa, and is currently in the Criminal Justice program while attending Hawkeye.
