Female Athlete of the Week- Jordan Gallentine
RedTail Track and Field student-athlete Jordan Gallentine has been named Scheels Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Bearcat Invitational on February 4-5.
Gallentine had an incredible weekend at the Bearcat Invitational at Northwest Missouri State. She continued her consistent progression through her 2023 indoor season, capping her meet off with breaking a three year old school record in the 400m dash. Gallentine started the weekend hitting a new lifetime personal best in the 200m dash, stopping the clock with a time of 26.63, which moves her up to number three all time. She followed that race up, matching up with freshmen Jules Breakenridge, Sydnie Martin, and Madison Tieskotter in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) with a time of 13:56. Gallentine hit a new season's best time of 60.5 in the 400 leg of the DMR. Finally, she closed out her meet with a new collegiate best time of 59.83, moving her to number one all time for Hawkeye in the open 400m dash.
"Jordan's story is one for the books!" said coach Hunter Lavallee. "Taking on both track and dance in her freshman year, she developed some severe foot injuries which ultimately ended her freshman competition season. Circle back to this year, Jordan has gone to work with a chip on her shoulder each week. This milestone is just the beginning! Jordan will look to score big as we head into our championship season!"
Gallentine is originally from Morrison, IL.
