Lemuna Gurisho | SCHEELS Female Athlete of the Week

Lemuna Gurisho of the Hawkeye Community College Women's Wrestling team has been named the SCHEELS Female Athlete of the Week after an impressive victory against elite national competition.

Gurisho earned a statement win by pinning a nationally ranked opponent and 2025 NJCAA National Finalist at 103 pounds, showcasing her toughness and composure in a high-level matchup. Her performance highlighted both her physical strength and mental grit on the mat.

"Lemuna showed tremendous grit and poise in that match," said head coach Dan Lovell. "She stayed composed, trusted her wrestling, and outlasted a nationally ranked opponent in a tough showdown. Wins like that speak volumes about her growth and competitiveness."
