State Qualifier Gill Joins RedTail Women's Wrestling

Hawkeye Community College is excited to announce the signing of Semiya Gill from Maquoketa High School in Maquoketa, Iowa, to the RedTail Women's Wrestling program.

Semiya has been wrestling for two years, having first stepped onto the mat during her junior year of high school. In a remarkably short time, she proved her talent by becoming a state qualifier—an achievement she attributes heavily to the belief and motivation provided by her coaching staff. As she steps out of her comfort zone at Hawkeye, Semiya plans to study Liberal Arts.

"I'm excited to be a part of HCC to meet new people, get more involved in new things, and step out of my comfort zone," Gill said. "I'm mostly excited to keep wrestling. My biggest achievement so far is making it to state. Having my coaches by my side and realizing I'm capable has been a huge support and motivation throughout my journey."
