RedTails Race to Second Place in Mount Mercy 5K
The RedTail Women's Cross Country team took second place at the 27th annual Mount Mercy Mustang Gallop on Friday, missing the top shot by just one point.
The RedTail top five were led by freshman Ryan Portch, who placed second overall with a time of 19:53.47. Crossing the finish line next was Hannah Payne, finishing in fourth place with a time of 21:04.22. The next three finishers were Mindi Sande (21:54.16, 6th), Sophie Spargur (22:05.11, 7th), and Emma Drake (22:24.20, 9th) to round out the top scoring five.
"I'm proud of the girls mentality on this one, as the majority of our women's team ran solo efforts," said head coach Tyler Mulder. "Our women are continuing to run strong performances as we're still increasing mileage, which is always a good sign."
The RedTail women will compete next at the NIACC Trent Smith competition on October 9.
