RedTail Women’s Cross Country Runs at NJCAA Cross Country Championships
WATERLOO–The Hawkeye RedTail Women's Cross Country team traveled to Tallahassee, Florida, on November 12, 2022, to compete in the NJCAA Cross Country Championships. The women's team had an exceptional 5,000-meter race and were all able to finish despite the heat and humidity.
Jules Breckinridge placed the highest for the RedTail women, coming in at 112th place with a time of 22 minutes, 31.4 seconds. Maddie Tieskotter trailed right behind Breckinridge with a time of 22:38.0 and placed 114th. Rachel Rusche ran a time of 24:48.7 and finished in 175th place. Allie Witt and Triniti Etzel placed 179th and 180th, and ran times of 24:57.5 and 25:02.4, respectively. Hailey Eitzenhefer finished it out for the RedTails, running a time of 26:41.7. The RedTails came in 26th place as a team.
Coach Corinne Gadient reflected on the season and looks forward to the future saying, "There is no doubt that the women's team is unbreakable. They all stepped up when they needed to and excelled in doing so. Each meet they have all worked together to push each other by pack running. It wasn't easy for 4 middle distance runners to competitively run a 5K, but they stepped up, no questions asked and put in the work to get the job done. Overall, I am so extremely proud of how driven each of the girls are and how much they have grown into a runner and individual. We have a lot of work to do yet with track season around the corner, so be prepared to watch the women's team take over!"
