The Hawkeye Community College RedTails fell 2-0 to Western Iowa Tech in a hard-fought ICCAC matchup on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the visiting Comets broke through in the 64th minute when Kevin Martino slotted home a goal off an assist from Marco Lopez Rubio. Just eight minutes later, Charlie Eastwood doubled the lead with an unassisted effort, sealing the game for Western Iowa Tech.
The RedTails struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the match, registering only one shot and no shots on goal. Western Iowa Tech, meanwhile, peppered the Hawkeye defense with 23 total shots, 10 of them on target.
Despite the result, RedTails goalkeeper Roberto Romanelli made a strong showing between the posts, recording seven saves to keep the game within reach.
