This week, the RedTails traveled to Fort Dodge to take on the Iowa Central Tritons. The Tritons got up 1-0 just before half-time, and made it hard for the RedTails to come back throughout the second half. The team learned a lot about themselves in this matchup, and are walking away with some valuable lessons.
Though they battled to catch up to the Tritons, it was a positive to see the team never lost hope, and worked together to try to score.
Emma Roelfs, a captain and center back on the team this year, shared some of her thoughts about the game, saying, "After a slow start with chances on both sides, we unfortunately went down 1-0 right before half time. Our reaction was to press high and be more physical, which worked out really well by putting them under pressure the whole second half. It felt like we deserved to score and take one point back home after the work we did in the second half. Now we are even more motivated for the game on Saturday and focused on winning."
Looking at a quick turnaround, the RedTails face Northeast Community College at home this Saturday, September 27th for another tough conference game.
