The RedTails hosted #24 Iowa Central Community College on their home turf on April 20th. The RedTails split on the day, winning a close 3-2 pitcher's duel, and losing game two, 21-4.
Game One: 3 (HCC), 2 (ICCC)
Game one was a classic, back and forth pitcher's duel. The first two innings were three up, three down on both sides. The Tritons opened up the hitting getting the first single in the third inning, but nothing came of it.
The bottom of the fourth was when the RedTails struck. Isabelle Kriegel forced a Triton error. She quickly scored off a double from Ellie Lorenz. Alyvia Anderson hit her first homerun of the day to score two more runs, giving the RedTails a 3-0 lead.
In the sixth, the Tritons found some momentum, scoring two runs on a double and homerun, but the RedTail defense shut down the threat.
The top of the seventh and the last chance for the Tritons saw a strikeout, pop up, and groundout to the RedTails to end the game in a 3-2 win.
Anderson led the way at the plate, going 2-3 with one run scored and two runs batted in. Mya Chamberlin went the distance on the mound, pitching seven innings, giving up six hits, two earned runs, and ten strikeouts.
Game Two: 21 (ICCC), 4 (HCC)
The RedTails struggled to keep the Tritons off the board in game two. They struck early and often. They put up five runs in the first inning and four runs in the second inning.
In the bottom of the second, Hailey Harbour started with a single and moved to second on a single from Emilee Bergmann.Rylie Devlin hit a single to laod the bases. Mackenzie Bridgewater then forced a fielder's choice to score Harbour. With runners on the corners, Bridgewater forced the Tritons to make a decision and try to throw her out stealing second, they missed the mark there allowing Bergmann to score and allowing Bridgewater to slide in safely. This made the score 9-2.
A big inning for the Tritons gave them ten more runs, making it a 19-2 game.
The RedTails responded in the third, scoring two more runs on a Chamberlin single and Anderson homerun.
The Tritons put up two more runs in the fifth, and Hawkeye was held scoreless to end the game at 21-4.
On the mound, Anderson led the way again, going 1-2 with one run scored and two runs batted in. Six other RedTails tallied hits in the game. On the mound, Lillian McCarty took the loss, going just one inning. Adelyn Sienknecht, Kyra Ballard, and Addyson McKillip each saw innings on the mound.
The RedTails host their final home game of the season on Wednesday, April 22nd against Ellsworth Community College. Game time is set for 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
